Frequently asked questions
Can I use Coast to pay for T&E expenses?
Yes! Whether you’ve got drivers in the field, technicians visiting job sites, or salespeople attending client meetings, Coast gives you the control and visibility to make T&E seamless for everyone.
With Coast, you can issue smart cards with spending controls you define, ensuring that your employees can make purchases only where and when it makes sense. No more relying on out-of-pocket spending, handwritten logs, or surprise reimbursements.
You can also use Coast to digitize your expense policy, automate T&E enforcement, and streamline reconciliation.
Can Coast help me track receipts?
Coast helps you eliminate paper receipts and expense reports.
For fuel transactions, Coast automatically collects the transaction details such as fuel type, number of gallons or price per gallon, so you won’t need your paper receipt anymore.
For other merchant categories, Coast can prompt your card users to add a receipt immediately as they spend, through their phone. Coast also helps you get rid of manual reminders and back and forth, by sending automated reminders until the user shares the receipt.
Your receipts will then appear in your online portal, and are available for review and download, so you can get ready in case of an audit or for your tax reports.
Can Coast help me streamline my expense reimbursement program?
Coast can do one better and help you eliminate your cumbersome expense reimbursement program altogether.
Coast gives you and your team access to corporate cards with advanced features like built-in spending controls, on-the-spot receipt capture, and real-time data collection (just to name a few).
With these features, you won’t have to store paper receipts or fill out expense reports any more. And, with all the data synced to your accounting system, your month-end reconciliation becomes easier and reimbursement becomes a thing of the past.
Where are Coast cards accepted?
Coast cards can be used in every state in the U.S. and in Canada, at any merchant that accepts Visa.
This is in contrast to “closed loop” cards that only allow employees to make purchases at specific locations or for specific products.
Closed loop cards can make it much more difficult for your employees to buy the things they need to do their jobs right. Cards like Coast are much more flexible and allow your employees to spend on everything from fuel and repairs to travel and entertainment.
How can I track and control spending for a specific team member or vehicle?
With Coast, you can easily track and control spending for any specific team member or vehicle using customizable rules.
Set spending limits and category restrictions by driver, vehicle, department, location, or seniority, whatever makes sense for your business.
Unlike other fleet cards that rely on outdated PIN systems, Coast uses a unique mobile process to verify both the driver and vehicle before each purchase. This ensures the right rules are automatically applied, so you always know who’s filling up which vehicle, and you get accurate mileage tracking.
It’s a smarter, more granular way to manage fuel and fleet expenses with full visibility and control.
What makes the Coast fuel card unique?
We built Coast to be easy to use and to help you save money wherever you can. It’s our goal to make the work of fleet managers and finance teams easier.
Coast cards come with some of the most powerful controls to reduce theft and fraud. You can block spending at specific merchants and lock/unlock cards via our online dashboard. We even offer a fuel fraud guarantee!
Coast also offers deep integrations with all the tools your fleet uses. Want to use telematics to leverage GPS and tank level information? Coast can do that. Want to centralize all your fleet expenses to get a view of your total cost of ownership, by linking with Fleetio? Coast can do that. Want to enable seamless communication with popular accounting tools like QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Netsuite? Coast can do that.
In the field, drivers can use Coast cards in every state in the U.S. and in Canada at any merchant that accepts Visa.
Back in the office, you can access fuel reporting that prioritizes savings. Get insights on the most expensive stations. View a ranking of drivers spending the most. Or create an MPG history that allows you to identify maintenance issues.
Coast can also function as a full corporate card with flexible controls, receipt collection, and accounting integrations.
